Olympia the birthplace of the Olympics was a sanctu- ary dedicated to Zeus. The first games were held in the 2nd millennium B.C. and had local character. In 776 B.C. the first Pahnellenic games were organized in Olympia. During the games all the wars between Greek city states had to stop. The games were held in every 4 years. In the archaeological site, you will  see the buildings were the athletes used to train, the workshop of Phidias who curved the Ivory
Gold Statue of Zeus and  the temple of Hera. This statue is one of the7 wonders of the ancient word.  Next to the Site is the museum which contains finds from the excavations in the sacred precinct of the Altis, from pre- historic times to  Early Christian period.       View Olympia video

About hotel

  Our hotel has 23  comfordable rooms with fashionable furniture and bathrooms. It is operating in a renovated  neoclassical building and it can accommodate  up to 55 persons. Perfectly  located, it is opposite the Orthodox church  and only 5 min. gentle walk from the museum and Archaeological site of Ancient Olympia. Returning to the hotel after your day's explorations every room has a balcony to enjoy a small village afternoon.
